Livestock

Grass-fed Beef: We raise American Aberdeen and lowline cattle breeds that are known for finishing well on grass fed only diets on diverse pasture. We look forward to expanding our cattle herd in the future and continuing to diversify our farm.

Grass-fed Lamb: We raise Katahdin sheep, a hair sheep breed that is revered for their high quality meat. Our sheep are not only grass-fed and grass-finished, but they are also rotationally grazed on our farmstead’s irrigated pasture. Rotational grazing not only improves the quality of forage, but also provides our sheep with fresh grass daily, resulting in the healthiest animal for your table. Grass-fed lamb results in meat that is high in Omega-3 fatty acids and numerous other important nutrients. You can truly taste the difference in our grass-fed lamb, and we take great pride in the flavor and quality of our lamb meat.

Poultry

We raise a small flock of chickens and ducks primarily for eggs and meat. All of our poultry are raised on pasture and fed organic feed in addition to kitchen scraps.

We have limited quantities of whole chickens available for purchase each year. Purchases/orders can be made directly from our farm store and through the CAA Market.

Vegetables

We grow a small diverse vegetable garden of: head lettuce, lettuce mixes, spinach, pac choi, broccoli, cabbage, kale, collards, chard, onions, garlic, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, a wide variety of root crops (carrots, turnips, radish, beets) and much, much more! Growing at over 7,000 ft. can be a challenge, but if we can grow it in our short growing season, we do! All of our vegetables are grown without the use of herbicides or pesticides. We call it the soil, sun and water equation, and we don’t mess with it! Vegetables are available for purchase as available at the CAA Market in downtown Steamboat.

Sustainable and regenerative farming practices are at the root of Mystic Hills Farmstead and everything we do from raising livestock, to cutting hay, and tending to our garden is done from the heart. We know that every action matters and we are constantly re-evaluating and learning to be sure we are being responsible stewards of not only the place we call home, but the farm that feeds us and our community.
